The long-awaited return of Bernard Foclour's complete recordings of Bach's organ works on 16 CDs, including the systematic recordings made by RICERCAR over 15 years and the new recordings made in 2008, reveals the complete picture of the great Bach organ works. In the latter half of the 20th century, the antiquarian approach to music, which attempts to get closer to the original conception of a work by studying and reproducing the instruments and methods of the models known to the composer at the time of its creation, made great strides. Foclour is a member of the Ricercar Consort, which has made a series of important recordings since its inception, and an organist/composer who has also served as artistic director of the Aix-en-Provence Opera Festival and the Royal Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels.The recordings made at historic organs around Europe, which at the time were being restored to their pre-18th century state, reproduce not only the dynamic sound of the heavy bass of the foot keys favored by Bach, but also the original sound of 18th century church organs, with their direct sound that does not rely on reverberation.
