Mozart (1756-1791)
Description:
The third installment in the series of Mozart's Late Works series, which started with great acclaim at ALPHA, features "Requiem". The third series of Mozart's late works features "Requiem," but since the group is always conscious of the performance customs in France before and after the Revolution, they will perform an unexpected version of the Paris premiere of 1804, a modified version of the popular Jussmeier's supplement. Mozart's works were being restored, and "The Marriage of Figaro" and "The Magic Flute" were being performed in France, and the success of these productions led to the enthusiastic reception of this version of the Requiem, conducted by Cherubini, on December 21, 1804. The performance lasted for about 30 minutes, with the opening of the same title by Yommelli, a master of the 18th century Neapolitan school of music who was also popular in Paris, being included first, and bold cuts were made, mainly in the second half by Jussmeyer. However, there are many hidden attractions, such as the use of the cor anglais (English horn) instead of the basset horn, the trombone solo in "Tuba mirum" (The trumpet sounds strange), which is played in majestic brass unison at the beginning and then replaced by the bassoon, and the charm of this piece is revealed in the rich contrasts between the old instruments assembled under Chauvin. The contrasts are richly conveyed by the virtuoso players of ancient instruments who have gathered under Chauvin. The coupling is a mass written by the great Paisiello, who after dominating Europe as a popular opera composer swore allegiance to Napoleon and charmed the French emperor with his rich Italian operatic style, for the ceremony celebrating Napoleon's accession to the throne on December 2 of the same year. The rich sound of the wind instruments of the day, coupled with the richness of the music, makes this a very enjoyable piece to listen to. The harp solo inserted in the "Credo" is also full of beauty. The soloists, Piau, Santon-Jeffery, and Vidal ......, all of whom are at the forefront of the French singing scene, are also a must-hear.
