Description:
Equilibrium IV," the title of the album, was first performed at the 2005 Expo 2005 Aichi, Japan. The piece was performed in a venue that was more like a stadium than a concert stage, and the mixer that operated the electronic instruments was positioned more than 100 meters away from the stage, a situation that would have been unthinkable in a normal concert. The performance was a success, and the piece has since won several awards and become one of Gusmundsson's masterpieces. This is the first studio recording of the work, performed by the Reykjavik Chamber Orchestra. The work has the atmosphere of George Crumb and Olivier Messiaen. The album comes with a Blu-ray Audio disc containing the sound in high quality format. Naxos Japan
