The "Ring of the Nibelung" was premiered at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in November 2021. Stefan Hareheim, a genius who is in demand on the world opera scene, was in charge of directing this new production of "Ring of the Nibelung". He says that "Wagner is a life-long challenge." He sets the "grand piano," a key object common to all four parts of "Ring," at the center of the stage, surrounded by a crowd of men and women who play silent roles, and encourages the unceasing generation and development of drama through creative staging and spectacular scenes. The drama is unrelentingly generated and developed through a succession of inventive and spectacular scenes. The stage, the chorus, and the orchestra were all well represented, with veteran singer Nina Stemme as Brünnhilde, the chorus and the crowd responding to the director's intentions, and General Music Director Donald Runnicles bringing out the magnificent Wagner sound from the Deutsche Oper Berlin's orchestra.
