Pia Noago, one of Denmark's leading contemporary composers, celebrates his 90th birthday on July 13, 2022. This 4-CD box set brings together eight symphonies from his 60-year composing career. From the beautiful Sibelius-like depiction of Nordic nature in his Symphony No. 1, written in 1953, to the unique use of "Infinite Celli" in the Symphony No. 2, written in 1954, the symphony is a work that is a masterpiece of Danish music. From Symphony No. 3, written in 1953, with its Sibelius-like depiction of Nordic nature, to Symphony No. 4, which was inspired by Swiss artist Adolfo Völfli, to Symphony No. 8, written in 2010-11 in a classical form with a simple writing style, each work shows the maturation of the composer, as well as Noago's words, "Each of my symphonies has its own personality, and they are not all the same. Each work shows the maturity of the composer, and as Noago said, "Each of my symphonies has its own personality, and no two are ever the same. These eight pieces allow us to enjoy Noago's musical language to the fullest.The lineup of performers is also extensive, with Sakari Oramo and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra's No. 1 and No. 8 being selected for the 2015 Gramophone Award (Best Contemporary Music Recording).
