Description:

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was a great German poet. His poems have been used in numerous songs from his time to the present day. In this album titled "Goethe Project," soprano Ute Ziemer and pianist Hiroko Imai perform songs based on Goethe's poetry. The album includes well-known songs by Schumann, Grieg, Wolf, and others, as well as songs from the 20th and 21st centuries, including world premiere recordings such as Krenzl's "Three Goethe Songs," written especially for this album, by composers who were fascinated by Goethe's poetry. Ute Ziemer] Ute Ziemer studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and received private instruction from Elisabeth Schwarzkopf from 2003 until Schwarzkopf's death in 2006, where she taught many songs and operas. In addition to winning the first prize at the Johannes Brahms International Song Competition in 2006, she has won many other prizes, premiered works by contemporary composers, collaborated on television productions, and is a widely active soprano singer. Hiroko Imai] Hiroko Imai spent her childhood in Peru and learned to play the piano in Lima. After returning to Japan, she graduated from the Kunitachi College of Music and has lived in Vienna, Austria since 1997.A graduate of the Graduate School of Piano Performance at the Vienna State Conservatory of Music, she has performed several times as soloist with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra at the Berlin Philharmonic Hall, including her debut recital at the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan organized by the Japan Federation of Musicians. She currently performs regularly in concerts in Vienna and Italy, and is also an enthusiastic teacher. Naxos Japan
