The theme of the final volume of "Four Elements," a project that Masaru Kosuge has been working on for four years, is "Earth. Masaru Kosuge's performances of Beethoven, German Classical and Romantic music, and other works are characterized by her exquisite touch and unique sensibility. This album is a session recording with the program "Daichi" which is the conclusion of the concert series "Four Elements" she has been working on since 2017. Kosuge's idea that "of the four elements (water, fire, wind, and earth), 'earth' is the one closest to humans, and I wanted to create a program that tells the history of humans while following humans themselves" is directly reflected in the selection of music on this album. The selection of this year's program reflects Kosuge's wish that "I wanted to make a program that tells the story of human history. The theme of the program includes Schubert's "Wanderer" Fantasy, Janacek's Sonata "On the Streets of October 1, 1905," Chopin's "Sonata No. 3," and Dai Fujikura's "Akiko's Diary," based on the diary of a girl who lost her life in the radioactive aftermath of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. sDiary" by Dai Fujikura. Each piece contains a story and the deep feelings of the composer, which Kosuge carefully scoops up and weaves into the sound with her unique variety of tones and delicate emotional expression.
