They have recorded a unique album about Napoleon, one of the most heretical figures in Western history, with the group of Arnaud Marzorati, a unique old-time singer who has long played a central role in Le Poème Armonique. Napoleon Bonaparte, the heretic born of the French Revolution, was a man whose unprecedented successes provoked both enthusiasm, satire, and hatred. The musicians are truly elite, and we can count on the participation of the beautiful soprano Douvielle, who has sung wonderfully on the ERATO label, and Les Siecle's ophicleide and serpentine player Vivard.The period brass, from the natural instruments to the earliest piston brass, adds an exquisite accent, and Danielle Izoard's fine fortepiano performance, which is not merely a period effect, supports the singing.
