Description:

This album explores the activities of women composers from the 18th century to the present day. The album not only introduces works by well-known women such as Clara Schumann, Amy Beach, and Haruna Miyake, but also those by Dora Pejacevic and Cecile Chaminade, who have been attracting increasing attention recently, as well as the Italian composer Anna Bonn, known for her dedication of the flute sonata to King Friedrich the Great (King of Prussia). The album also features works by Anna Bonn, Vycheslava Kaplerová, who studied under Martinů, Tekla Bandajewska (Tekla Bondajewska-Baranowska), who is known only for one piece, "The Maiden's Prayer," and other women who have been almost lost to history, but whose works are scattered throughout the album. The album is an interesting reflection of pianist Yuko Ishimoto's years of research. Ishimoto has lovingly played the works of each of the female composers, tracing their lives with great care. <Born in Sapporo, Ishimoto studied with Michiko Endo from the age of five. After studying at Toho Gakuen School of Music, she went on to study at the Juilliard School in New York under Bartók's high disciple, György Sándor. After graduation, she participated in the first PMF in Sapporo in 1990, which was proposed by Bernstein, and taught at Toho Gakuen Junior College of Music from 1992-2002, and has lived in Budapest, Hungary since 2002.Based in Hungary, she gives recitals and expands her various activities and focuses on education. from 2011 to 2015, she gave concerts for children affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake and was a member of Women's Action Network (WAN). since 2015. she has been writing a series of essays, "Women Composers Who Never Had the Sunshine," on the WAN website. She has given well-received concerts related to her essay at various venues. Naxos Japan
