Description:
A collection of works by the Icelandic composer Pálsson. His art was influenced by the cold sea breezes of his native Iceland and the academic concerts he heard in the old churches of Tallinn, Estonia, and elsewhere. In this safe environment where freedom is celebrated, he believes in his own unlimited potential and constantly creates contemplative works. His wife, Thuy, holds similar views and they hit it off as soon as they met. This film was created with the stance that the two would return to Iceland and continue their lives with a new gaze. The "Stalker's Monologue" is from the script of Tarkovsky's film "Stalker," which reflects Estonia's difficult history. The lyrics of "Atonement," a sensitive poem by Icelandic poet Gunnarsdottir about looking inside oneself and seeking peace, express the composer's own approach to music and life. Fransson, the head of the Caputo Ensemble performing the piece, is Gunnarsdottir's own father, who is the subject of the music for the film "The Joker." Naxos Japan
