Lully's masterpiece from his heyday, "Phaethon," will be performed by Le Poème Armonique led by Vincent Dumestre and Musica Eterna, the orchestra of Kulenzis. The performance was staged at the Opera de Versailles, where the work was premiered, and the soloists include Zajcik, one of the most popular mezzos in the world of ancient music today. The production, co-produced with the BelAir label, features a beautifully filmed performance by Dumestre's trusted director Lazare, a prodigy in classical theater direction, who blends traditional and modern styles without losing the worldview of the work.
