He falls in love at first sight with his niece Minette and wants to marry her, but she is waiting for another lover, Karl Pirkner, who is currently missing. The end of their love affair is... Weber, a German composer of the early Romantic period. His father, a music company promoter, and his mother, an opera singer, were both familiar with opera from an early age. It was written in the form of a "Zingspiel" with dialogues and music, but the dialogues have been lost and the entire work is rarely performed. In this performance, the young baritone Paul Armin Edelman was cast as the main role of Peter Schmoll, and he sings the wealthy banker with a beautiful and extended voice. The conductor is Paternostro, who has made a splash with his complete Bruckner symphonies. The performance is a pure and simple performance that makes the most of the work's unique qualities.
