Lutoslawski is popular for his large-scale orchestral works, but now he presents a complete collection of piano works, including rare pieces and editions. With the cooperation of the Paul Sacher Foundation, rare music scores from the foundation's collection are used in some parts (tracks 1-3, 28, and 31). The world premiere recording of the Piano Sonata, in particular, is based on a new edition supervised by Kocur based on the autograph score. The freshness typical of his early works, the Ravel-like elegance, and the outpouring of emotion reminiscent of Shimanowski are all enhanced by this edition. Also included are world premiere recordings of "The Kiss of Roxanne," the technical "Invention," and the "Winter Waltz. This is the first complete collection of his works. Czech pianist, harpsichordist, and composer Giorgio Koukl is known as a Martineau specialist through his work with Filksny, and is also highly regarded for his works with Cherepnin, Lurier, and Tansman. He also specializes in Lutoslawski, and with his deep insight and sensitive touch, backed by his experienced study of the composer's works, he masterfully depicts the world of works by the leading composer from neighboring Poland.
