This is a collection of works by composer Qin Wenchang, born in Ordos, Mongolia, and active in Beijing. He has been studying folk music since his youth, studied composition at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, studied in Essen, Germany from 1998 to 2001, and is currently a professor at the Central Conservatory of Music of China, where he has also published numerous works." He is one of the "most influential composers in China. The four pieces on this album use melodies derived from Central Asian folk music. The works are recorded on the same series as the NAXOS release (8.570620) and are performed by the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Gottfried Rappl. The Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Gottfried Rappl, gives a superb performance.
