The National's latest album features 12 songs produced in the same sessions as "First Two Pages of Frankenstein"! Bon Iver, Phoebe Bridgers, and even Johnny Cash's daughter Roseanne Cash guest on the album!!!! Grammy Award-winning band and US indie phenomenon The National released "First Two Pages of Frankenstein" in April 2023 and "Laugh Track," an album of songs created during the same sessions, on 4AD. Laugh Track" is the band's most freewheeling album in several years, with all members giving it their all. If First Two Pages of Frankenstein represented a rebuilding of trust between the members after more than 20 years of working together, Laugh Track is a vibrant exploration of that trust and a renewed statement of intent.Inspired by a radical overhaul of the creative process, The National refined the majority of the songs during live performances on the 2023 tour, and recorded a lively version in an impromptu session at producer Tucker Martin's Portland-based studio Flora Recording & Playback in Portland, recorded a lively version of the song in an impromptu session at producer Tucker Martin's Flora Recording & Playback studio in Portland, OR.
