For the second year in a row, they will appear at FRUE & make their first solo visit to Japan (w/Asa Tone)! Salamanda, a left-field ambient duo based in Seoul, Korea, has signed with Wisdom Teeth, an up-and-coming electronic music label run by Facta and K-LONE, and completed their new album "In Parallel". In Parallel is a vividly textured, immersive, and engaging work that brings a new level of clarity to their signature psychedelic, expansive approach. Comprised of friends Uman Therma (aka Sala) and Yetsuby (aka Manda), the duo has been painting elaborate, dreamlike soundscapes since their arrival in 2019, and have honed their sound over four albums and more than 10 singles to date. In their already extensive discography, the duo has established several key characteristics. Mallet instruments and tuned drums play playful music box melodies, while thick gaseous ambiences evoke otherworldly and ancient soundscapes. Buried fragments of found sounds and manipulated vocals are layered, giving their supposedly synthetic compositions the warm feeling of a first-person narrative.Ambient and Reich School minimalism are the most obvious sonic touchstones of this music, though the pulse of contemporary club and pop music is not entirely unheard. However, "In Parallel" marks a step away from Salamanda's previous work, which was released in 2022 on the previous ashbalkum label (by Tristan Arp and Simisea, who also released work on Wisdom Teeth and are members of Asa Tone's Since then, the duo has toured extensively, from classic venues like London's Kings Place to DIY clubs like Manchester's White Hotel, as well as world-renowned festivals like Mutek, Nachti and Dekmantel. They have toured extensively through festivals.
