The only album by the cult band JODO, which was produced with the support of such British hard rock luminaries as Derek Lawrence and Martin Birch, has been reissued by the Spanish discovery label Sommor, which has been releasing nice reissues by DOM, Castle Farm, and others. JODO was formed in the early 1970s by Rod Alexander (guitar), Chico Greenwood (drums, percussion), Earl Jordan (vocals), Bill Kimber (vocals), and John Taylor (bass). Taylor (bass guitar). Each member of the band has played in Little Free Rock, Green Bullfrog, Jasper, Axe, Blackwater Junction, and others. Guts" is their only album. Derek Lawrence, known for his work with Wishbone Ash and Deep Purple, was the producer, and Martin Burch is credited as the engineer.Although this album was produced by a splendid lineup, for some reason it was not released in the U.K. when it was originally released in 1971 (it was released in the U.S. and New Zealand), but because of its unmistakable quality, it has been passed down among collectors as a hidden masterpiece. The opening track "Nightmare" and "One Night Stand" are infused with a bluesy taste reminiscent of Cream, and the pop song "Rat Race" was also cut as a single. Released on a Spanish discovery label.
