Description:

An amazing compilation of 80's disco and funk digs from the African island nation of Cape Verde, located in the Atlantic Ocean, is released on the new Colorful World label under the prestigious Rush Hour label. This is a great compilation of island boogie with eclectic moods! The project is organized by Américo Brito, a Surinamese musician whose original album from the 1980s was reissued last year and suddenly surfaced in the rare groove world, and Nils Nieuwborg a.k.a. Arp Freak, who also produces Jovanka, a Dutch jazz singer who is popular in Japan. Both are Arp freaks. Nils is an expert in discovering African disco, having selected the tracks for Rush Hour's Surinam compilation "Surinam Funk Force". The artists included are Americo Brito, who continues to be active with Nils' band: Arp Freak, Eliseo Vieira, who was also picked for the Analog Africa project, and Zeka & Zézé, who were featured in "Pop Africa 800," a classic African music guide book. Zézé, Carbo Verde Shaw, who is based in Paris and was widely active in Europe, Gerard Mendes (Mendes & Mendes), who also participated in Cesaria Evola's works as a songwriter, and many more. ◆Although some of the songs are from the 70's, most of the songs were recorded in the 80's.The bouncing rhythms, psychedelic guitars, and distinctive synth tones of the early days of digital music are all recognizable at first listen. This is a valuable project that is a double knockout for both African music fans and funk lovers, as it is a collection of unknown gems of electric Afro-boogie that has passed through the boogie revival and can be said to be unique to the current era. This is a release from "Colorful World", a new label started by ◆Nils under the umbrella of Rush Hour. Includes a Japanese translation of the English commentary by Americo Brito, one of the recording artists who planned and selected the songs for this album.
