Salicus Kammerchor, a chamber choir specializing in ancient music, has begun recording all of J. S. Bach's church cantatas, a biennial project in which approximately four cantatas will be performed, recorded, and released each time. This is a grand project that will take 100 years to complete the recording of all of J. S. Bach's church cantatas, of which about 200 remain to date! This is the first of many such recordings! This CD was produced through crowdfunding with the support of many people. Conducted by Motoki Sakurai, the group will attempt to reconstruct lost Western songs from a comparative musical perspective. He will go back to the foundation of Western music, the "Old Neuma," which describes Gregorian chant singing, and "melody and hexachord," on which the singing is based, and challenge J.S. Bach, the ultimate point of arrival of melodic music. This is a work that offers a colorful and lively performance that has never been recorded before. (C)RS
