Description:
This is a collection of piano works by Aleksandr Mosolov (1900-1973), a 20th century Soviet composer known for his "Iron Factory," a symbol of subversive music. Mosolov was a central figure in Soviet music in the early years of his career, but was soon attacked by the Union of Russian Proletarian Musicians, and before long he was expelled from the center, eventually arrested as a traitor, and forced to work at the "White Sea River construction site" for eight years. After his return to Japan, he continued to perform his works. Even after his return, his works were not permitted to be performed, and his honor was not restored until after his death. This album contains all the piano works he left behind. All of these works were composed in the 1920s, before the repression of the Soviet Union, and all of them are creative music, full of free thought and aggressive phrases, with some Scriabin influence. Moscow-born pianist Andrushchenko gives a powerful performance. Naxos Japan
