Kazuya Matsumoto's third album, which took 9 years to make, is now available in a large 2-CD set and is the counterpart to his first album, "Mizu no Katachi", which is based on the theme of the sound of ice. Kazuya Matsumoto's third album, which took nine years to make, is now available as a 2-CD set and is the counterpart to his first album, "Mizu no Katachi", which is also called "Mujyo" and is based on the theme of the sound of ice. Facing the unpredictable changes of nature, the band has continued to search for the ideal sound over the years, resulting in an epic work of overwhelming scale. The recording is a masterpiece like a lump of the artist's own soul, dynamically and delicately containing the mysteries of nature! Mujyo" Kazuya Matsumoto The "Mujyo" project began in 2015 when the artist was unable to include a winter part in his first album "Mizu no katachi", which was based on the theme of water, and in order to create a work based on the theme of ice, a counterpart to "Mizu no katachi", he spent nine years from 2014 to 2022 in the frozen mountains of Hokkaido and Gunma Prefecture. Disc 1 is the sound on the ice, and disc 2 is the sound under the ice using a hydrophone. The work is a work in which the boundary between artifice and randomness disappears. We were confronted with the ever-changing sound of ice in terms of temperature, humidity, wind force, ice thickness, snow, sunlight, etc. When spring came, the ice would melt, and we would wait until winter came again. The ice melts in the spring, and we wait until winter comes again, and then we wait until the environment that makes us want to make sounds in the extreme cold occurs. ■Recommendations from Taylor Deupree, who mastered the recording: "I listened to "impermanence" long and deeply during the mastering process. The quality and clarity of the recording makes the ice a highly palpable, living, breathing organism. It is truly a simultaneous representation of the subtlety and power of nature."
