Bob Corritore & Friends

Description:

The latest chapter from Bob Corito—a tireless explorer of the blues and renowned harmonica player—is a collection of recordings from the past three years featuring blues singers active on the real-time scene today! It showcases not only Chicago blues but also early R&B and country blues. The participating singers include Sugarlay Rayford, Tia Carroll, Teenie Tucker, Johnny Rowls, Oscar Wilson, Charles Wilson, and Willie Buck. Backing them are seasoned musicians such as Bob Margolin, Kid Ramos, and Bob Stroger. Bob Corito was born in Chicago in 1956. He picked up the harmonica at age 12 and honed his skills by watching authentic bluesmen like the legendary Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf perform live. From the late 1970s, he performed professionally, joining the bands of Tail Drager, Louis Myers, and Eddie Taylor. In 1981, he moved to Phoenix, Arizona, and played with Louisiana Red’s band for about a year; when Red moved to Europe, he joined Big Pete Pearson’s band. There, he developed close friendships with many musicians, and in 1991, he opened a local club called the Rhythm Room. Using it as a base, he invited many renowned musicians—including Bo Diddley, Little Milton, Jimmy Rogers, and Pinetop Perkins—to perform live and record. In 1999, he released his first compilation album, *All-Star Blues Sessions*, on High Tone Records. Since then, he has consistently released the numerous sessions he had recorded with various artists as the *From the Vaults* series, winning numerous awards, including the Blues Music Award.
