The role of Ryoma Sakamoto, a windbag from the closing days of the Tokugawa Shogunate who was appointed as the Chief Cabinet Secretary to bridge the gap with the modern world, is played by Eiji Akachu, a talented actor who is highly acclaimed for his theatrical skills. The role of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the Prime Minister of Japan, will be played by Nomura Mansai, a treasure in the world of kyogen and an actor with a unique presence.
