Born in Marseille to a Russian father and a Romanian mother, Johra Guller (1895-1980) was a child prodigy, graduating at the top of her class from the Paris Conservatory. She has performed with Enesco, Francescatti, Szigeti, and Einstein's violin, and there are not many recordings of her. The titles released on the TAHRA label were also a big hit, but are now hard to find. The remastered version from ALTUS is a must-have for everyone. The sound quality has been greatly improved, making this a must-have disc for everyone. The recordings include Beethoven's No. 4 and Chopin's No. 2. Both pieces are well played with the delicacy and panache of the genius Guller.Güller's playing is exhilarating, sometimes with a great deal of energy and abandon, but sometimes he also shows a delicate expression, and his love song in the second Chopin movement with the weakest notes is very moving. The soloist is a genius, and is supported by the master musician Angel Bresset, who laid the foundation of the French music world, and the famous duo of the Orchestre National de Radio France, which he founded himself, raising the level of the music to another level.
