Not only one of Jamaica's greatest DJs, but also a highly regarded producer/arranger, Tupper Zukie's album "Black Man," originally released only in Jamaica in 1978 on his own label, is now available worldwide. Tapper Zukie grew up in the rough and tough West Kingston district of Jamaica, between Trench Town and Greenwich Farm. Living on the streets from an early age, young people, including Tapper, had no choice but to fall into the hands of the political parties that controlled the various ghetto districts of the town. And music seemed to be the only way out of a life of crime and gang culture. The path he found by the mid-1970s was to establish himself as a well-known star on the DJ roots circuit. Back home in Jamaica, he also made a name for himself producing local singers and groups such as Prince Allah and Knowledge. To release these productions and his own work in Jamaica, Tapper started his own label, Stars. The first release of the album "Black Man" was on this label. (From the manufacturer's information)
