The second release in the "PHANTOM BRICKWORKS" series, Bibio's ambient/drone project inspired by nature, landscape, and the lingering shadows of industry! PHANTOM BRICKWORKS is an ambient/drone project by British musician/producer Stephen James Wilkinson, aka Bibio, inspired by nature, landscape, and the lingering shadows of industry. Stephen created this work by visiting decaying ruins around the UK and exploring the traces of human presence that remain. People are very sensitive to the atmosphere of a place. They can be intensified or dramatically changed by knowing the historical background of a place. In some cases, we can even hear sounds and voices in some form. I'm sure the place has a feeling it wants to convey," explained Stephen, "and since the release of PHANTOM BRICKWORKS in 2017, I realized this was a project I could continue all the way through.Elements of PHANTOM BRICKWORKS are slowly seeping into the rest of the album, but I felt the project had its own identity," he continues. 10 ambient/drone tracks make up PHANTOM BRICKWORKS (LPII), which focuses on a new The album focuses on new locations. Some are interesting places that have left significant scars on the natural landscape, while others remain only in local memory, old images, or photographs. Some have sunk into oblivion, and some exist only as legends and stories. Beneath the improvised layers of piano and baritone guitar loops, faint traces of the workers' lives can be heard, suggesting that nature will overshadow everything. When I released the first "PHANTOM BRICKWORKS" album, I talked about how what happens there can bring meaning to a place. This consideration continues in the new album. The new album is also mostly improvised, using previous techniques, but also incorporating new methods unique to this album. We revisited familiar territory, both musically and in our choice of locations.North Wales plays an important role, but this time we've expanded and ventured further into historical places.
