As you probably know, the 150th anniversary of Mahler's (1860-1911) birth and the 100th anniversary of his death were celebrated in 2010-2011, with commemorative concerts held all over the world, especially of his symbolic work, No. 2. October 2011 marked the 100th anniversary of the premiere of Mahler's "Resurrection" in Hamburg, which was also celebrated with a wonderful concert. Simone Young, the conductor of the moment, conducted the entire concert. Her performance of the entire work was highly concentrated and never slowed down. The intensity of her performance, as if she were breathing fire, was so intense that one could not help but shudder. The soloists are the young Kaune and Pechikova, both of whom are known for their steady singing, and the NDR Hamburg Choir and the Latvian State Choir give us their fullest choral performance.The resolute sound of "Bereite dich zu leben!" is truly moving, as if a ray of light shines from the heavens above.
