The popular Dutch band fuses Eastern aromas with cosmic grooves! Their danceable "Yatta!" sound explodes! Hailing from Maastricht, the Netherlands' oldest city, the exotica + funk disco band In In. They've become well-known here in Japan too, performing at Fuji Rock in July 2024 and holding solo Japan tours in Tokyo and Osaka that same November. Their fourth release is 'Yatta!'. Their signature "cosmic disco"—effortlessly traversing disco, funk, surf, psychedelia, and Southeast Asian melodies—has evolved further. As UNCUT magazine noted, this album explodes with diverse grooves that simultaneously evoke retro and futuristic vibes. The opening track, "In Search of Yang," samples philosopher Alan Watts' voice, presenting the band's philosophy of "harmony between yin and yang." Against a backdrop of admiration for Italo disco and 60s-70s Southeast Asian psychedelic music, it unfolds a fantastical sound woven from tribal rhythms and surf guitar.Songs like "Lecker Song," "Night in Taipei," and "Pattaya Wrangler" continue to evoke exotic atmospheres, conjuring Asian landscapes within the sound. The lineup features Kees Berkers (drums), Remy Scheren (bass), Erik Bandt (guitar), and new member Jerry Scheren (keyboards). Recorded entirely on tape and finished in a live-like session, this album is their most organic and dynamic work to date. The title "Yatta!" means "We did it!" in Japanese. Their sense of accomplishment and joy, expressed as "We've finally become a real band in the truest sense" after years of exploration, is palpable in the sound. It's the ultimate global groove from four world-traveling musicians.
