The concept was that a cappella is an appropriate way to approach this aspect of life, which can directly express raw emotion, and that the title piece, a work by Schoenberg, as well as works by Josquin Desprez, 20th century Swedish composer In addition to the title piece by Schoenberg, this album features unaccompanied choral works by Josquin Deprez, 20th century Swedish composer Jennefelt, German composer Buchenberg, and Norwegian composer Nystedt. The Heinrich Schütz Ensemble, led by Martin Steidler, was founded in 1993 in Fornbach in lowland Bavaria. The ensemble has performed major a cappella and vocal works from the Renaissance to the present day, and has performed with many orchestras in demonstrations, including the Munich Radio Orchestra.In addition to winning a gold medal at the International Choral Contest in Riva del Garda, Italy in 2004, the group also won first prize in the Art Song category and third prize in the Folk Song category at the Spittal International Choral Contest in Austria in 2007, the E.ON Bavarian Culture Prize in 2008, and the 2010 Numerous prizes have been awarded, including first prize at the Cork International Choral Music Festival in Ireland.
