Liszt's third concert with the Staatskapelle Weimar led by Karabits! The masterpiece "Faust Symphony" and Mephisto Waltz No. 3! The Staatskapelle Weimar led by Kirill Karabits performs works related to Weimar, the Staatskapelle's home town. In 1848, Liszt became the permanent director of the court orchestra in Weimar. The "Faust Symphony," premiered on the same day that the monument to Goethe and Schiller was erected, is a masterpiece in which the three characters in Goethe's "Faust" are described in each movement, sounding out their fantastic, epic, and psychological worlds. Originally composed to be performed with orchestra alone, a "mystical chorus" was later added. The Staatskapelle Weimar, led by Karabits, beautifully expresses the psychology of the three characters. The coupling is an orchestral version of Mephisto Waltz No. 3. This is the world premiere recording of this arrangement of Reisenauer's version. King International
