The first volume of this project (ADX13780), which combines the works of the two musicians, who developed a friendship after Gernsheim conducted Brahms' "German Requiem" on numerous occasions, was nominated for the ICMA (International Classical Music Awards) 2022 in the chamber music category and received high acclaim. It was highly acclaimed. This project also offers a contrast between the profound, symphonic sounding Brahms and the light, well-balanced piano quartet by Gernsheim.The simultaneous recording of two contrasting works will make you appreciate the appeal of the two works even more. The Mariani Piano Quartet is a quartet of successful soloists, including Philippe Bonnen, a member of the Berlin Philharmonic, who received a scholarship to perform with the quartet. The quartet's refined and passionate performances have earned them a reputation for excellence. Since gaining attention at the 2011 German Music Competition, the quartet has been regularly invited to renowned music festivals and has appeared at major European chamber music venues, making its debut in February 2020 at the popular Elbphilharmonie Chamber Music Hall.
