LEE HAZLEWOOD is a songwriter, producer and businessman who has been active as a producer since the 50's and has done legendary work for MGM, MERCURY, WARNER BROTHERS and others, from acid folk to country rock, pop psychedelic to soul. This is the third volume of HAZLEWOOD's work, following "CALIFIA," a collection of 50s and 60s recordings, and the instrumental-focused "SHAZAM! The third volume of the series, following "CALIFIA" and "SHAZAM!", focuses on instrumental music, and includes recordings produced by HAZLEWOOD during his golden years, as well as those of later generations who were influenced by him. The album includes the title track from 50s rockabilly SANFORD CLARK, "A CHEAT" from the 2002 tribute to PULP's JARVIS COCKER and RICHARD HAWLEY, the classic "THESE BOOTS ARE MADE FOR WALKING" by NICK CAVE's maiden band THE BOYS NEXT DOOR, "SUMMER WINE" from a movie featuring HIM's VILLE VALO and actress NATALIA AVELON, and "SUMMER WINE" from the film "The Lost Art of Music. THESE BOOTS ARE MADE FOR WALKING", the 2007 version of "SUMMER WINE" featured in a film by HIM's VILLE VALO and actress NATALIA AVELON, 1957's LOY CLINGMAN "THE MAN WHO MADE AN ANGEL CRY", "SOME VELVET MORNING" featuring Kate Moss from PRIMAL SCREAM's 2002 album "EVIL HEAT", "YOU TURNED MY HEAD AROUND" by DEAN and BRITTA of LUNA, etc. For those who have been following the individual bands, this is just one song that comes to mind, but when you look across the 22 tracks, you will find a new context. 24-page booklet including interviews with RICHARD HAWLEY, BOBBY GILLESPIE of PRIMAL SCREAM, JIM REID and MICK HARVEY of JESUS & MARY CHAIN and others.
