Description:

The legendary NO WAVE, the most important band in the history of Japanese avant-garde music, JUKE/19, is currently holding its first large-scale solo exhibition at the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo since the "Zen-kei" exhibition. /The band was one of the first to respond to "NO NEW YORK" in a vivid way, and their sound, which advocated non-music and non-music that destroyed, avoided, and reconstructed established music theories and formats, is shocking even to today's ears. Between 1979 and 1982, Ohtake released a total of four LPs and one single, which collapsed after only two shows. After that, Shinro Ohtake began his career as an artist. The entire output was reissued once in a CD box set in the 1990s, and this is the first time that the band has been reissued independently. The fact that this band has not yet been reevaluated is a terrible loss for music and art in Japan. This is a project to reissue all the recordings of this rare band in analog form, jointly supervised by Manabu Yuasa and Enban. The entire collection has been intensely mastered for analog by Taku Unami, and all are presented in a special new binding. The liner is a commentary by Manabu Yuasa, a retrospective by Shinro Ohtake, and as much of the text written at the time and accompanying materials as possible have been reproduced. The members, feeling that their previous approach had run its course, decided to abandon "instruments," and instead "began to use objects that emitted sounds they found interesting as instruments, and decided to use so-called instruments as sub instruments," and turned 8mm filming machines, electric razors, pliers, spoons, steel plates, screwdrivers, wrenches, tin plates, knives, etc. into "instruments. etc. were made into "instruments," and pre-existing "instruments" were used as attachments and pickups. The "sounds" created in this way were layered on top of each other, and the members were convinced by the mille-feuille-like layers of sound that were created, saying "This is what we wanted to create. This reissue also has a special binding for the jacket. In addition to reprinting the large poster that came with the album at the time, a poster featuring the jacket design of equivalent size was also produced. It comes in a large paper bundle, with the record disc sandwiched between two large posters. Of course, this time also comes with a retrospective by the artist himself and a newly written commentary by Manabu Yuasa.
