The name is "Yamamoto".... The album was completely self-produced and only 100 copies were pressed at the time of 1984! In addition to the scarcity of this album, their special feature is their great musicality and good melodies that lightly connect city pop, disco, boogie, and fusion. The "Five Days City" is a masterpiece that has never been heard of, and is now being reissued officially. This is the only album from 1984 by the Tokyo group "Yamamoto", who were active in the 1980s but were not known to the public. Only 100 copies were pressed at the time, and most of them were given away to friends and family, making this album the ultimate private press. Five Days City" is a dreamlike masterpiece of city pop, boogie, and jazz fusion.Although an amateur band that had just graduated from art college at the time, all the songs are high quality original compositions, and their performance conveys a light groove based on jazz, and their vivid melody lines, which are aided by a moderate adolescence drawn mainly from their core member, Nobuyuki Arai, are simply charming. The balance between the sweet and gentle vocals of Hideyuki Nakajima, which create a superb mellowness, and the urban and solid instrumental tracks is also exquisite, making this a piece of high total quality. As a greeting, we have "A1 Misty Night," a lighthearted instrumental, "A2 Velda," a melancholic bossa-tinged city pop, "A3 Sea Side Season," another samba-flavored urban groove, and "A4 Misty Night," a mellow instrumental with a hint of sea breezes. The mellow instrumental "A4 Seashore" is a mellow, sea-breeze-flavored track with an astonishing sense of humor. The soulful scat groove "A5 Groomy Tonight" is a perfect example of this.Side B, which develops more funky and urban, is also in a good mood, starting with the supple boogie "B1 Love Cruise. The AOR-like "B2 Supply Gate" with English lyrics and the technical jazz fusion "B3 Firestarter" are followed by the superb dancer "B4 Otsukai," the highlight of the album, with its swaying electric piano. It is a masterpiece of urban boogie with mellowness spun by the swaying electric piano and a pleasant groove. In addition to a group of songs that never seem to have been discarded, the refined composition of this masterpiece is also a masterpiece of great taste. The recording has a moderately indie feel, the artwork features tasteful illustrations of cats drawn in white ink on atmospheric kraft paper, and the group name "Yamamoto" has an overwhelming impact on Japanese listeners.
