Faure (1845-1924)

Description:

Michel Dalbert was born in Paris in 1955, began playing the piano at the age of 3.5, and at the age of 12 was introduced to Vlad Perlemuter, a favorite pupil of Alfred Cortot. She won the first prize at the Clara Haskil International Piano Competition in 1975 and the Leeds International Piano Competition in 1958. His first recordings of Schubert's two sonatas, for which he won the Grand Prix de l'Académie Charles Clos, made him stand out among pianists of his generation, especially for his excellent technique. Since her debut, she has been highly acclaimed for her interpretation of Schubert and Mozart, as well as Liszt, Debussy, Fauré, and Ravel. She has been very active in recording, recording Fauré's Lieder with Barbara Hendricks and Chausson's Lieder with Jesse Norman for the former EMI, as well as the Renaud Lieder for the former Virgin. His recordings of Fauré's chamber music with Renaud Capuçon and the Ebène String Quartet for the former Virgin have all been highly acclaimed. He is also well known to connoisseurs, having taught Schubert's piano sonatas to young players on NHK's "Super Piano Lesson". This box is released to commemorate 40 years of Dalbert's performing career, and includes all of his recordings for Erato, the former EMI, and the former Virgin. CD8, "Liszt: Exercises for Superlative Technique" (recorded in 1986), has been specially included in this box. This box features the full range of Dalbert's pianism to date, as he continues to perform as one of the most accomplished pianists of our time. Warner Music Japan
