Description:
Jean Rondeau and his friend Thomas Danford's lute, with its mysterious chords, the music of Versailles during the reigns of Louis XIV & XV, the gifted harpsichordist Jean Rondeau has released four albums on the Erato label, all of which have been highly praised for their interpretations and performances with a His interpretations and performances are highly acclaimed, with a touch rooted in the sensibility of the Baroque period. He has a large number of fans in Japan, and all of his concerts in Japan are sold out immediately. Born in 1988, Danford studied lute at the age of 9 under Claire Antonini, and in 2006 he entered the Conservatoire de Paris, where he studied with the renowned lutenist Charles-Edouard Antonini. In 2006, he entered the Conservatoire National de Paris, where he won first prize in the class of the renowned lutenist Charles-Edouard Fantin. He then studied at the Schola Katholm in Basel, where he won many competitions. He is one of the most promising lutenists in the world. We both grew up with this kind of music from our early childhood cradle. We both grew up with this kind of music from our early childhood cradles. Music was something we grew up with, constantly questioning things, just as we do to ourselves. Now, playing music, as we all know, is not about making music but about playing it, and each of us is an instrument. The instrument is the crucible, and at the same time it is the same for each of us as well as for others. There are many pieces that are difficult to find a way to perform alone. This is the paradox of the music game (a seemingly correct premise and a reasonable-looking inference leading to an unacceptable conclusion). There are very precise rules about how to play (how to read this impenetrable language that we spend our lives deciphering like hieroglyphics), and the magic it leads us to (a dimension that is at once organic and dreamlike). We can find shared expression in the works included here. But as a shared ordeal, it is not yet fully understood. Our performances go far beyond dialogue. For us it is not about responding to each other, but about asking questions of our listeners and inviting them to participate in this search without answers or resolution. By doing so, we are turning these pieces of music upside down and continuing to play them endlessly. That is exactly what we are doing with this program, which consists almost exclusively of rondos (refrain-verse-refrain-verse) and certain repeated parts in binary form," said Jean Rondeau. The repertoire on this album also includes music from the Palace of Versailles during the reigns of Louis XIV and Louis XV, and you will feel as if an imaginary Versailles concert is taking place before your eyes.
