The latest work by the prodigious guitarist Tibor Garcia, who appeared in the movie "At the End of the Matinee," is the famous "Aranjuez Concerto"! About the combination of Rodrigo's famous "Aranjuez Concerto" and Tansman's concerto-like work, Tibor Garcia says, "This album is a concentration of everything I do. The style and spirit of these two composers evoke a historical period: the Aranjuez Concerto, written in 1939, is named after the royal palace not far from Madrid. Aranjuez was built in the 16th century, but Rodrigo's concerto evokes the elegance characteristic of the 18th century. It was written at a turning point in Spanish history [the end of the Spanish Civil War] and European history [the beginning of World War II], and the harmonies, scales, flamenco strumming, and rasgueados are strongly influenced by Spanish folk music, but the dissonances and nobility in this piece are characteristic of Rodrigo's music.
