Description:
Organist of St. Paul's Cathedral! A collection of various organ works on the theme of B-A-C-H! Simon Johnson, organist at St. Paul's Cathedral, has used his knowledge and insight to create this collection of organ works on B-A-C-H themes! A program that demonstrates the extraordinary capabilities of the instrument as only Johnson, who served as the Cathedral's Assistant Director of Music for over a decade from 2008 to 2021, can! The name Bach (Bach) is composed of four tone names, including the "h" for the b-natural sound, and when played as in the B-A-C-H sequence, it creates an elegant phrase consisting of two pairs of semitones down. The musical possibilities of this melodic arrangement were mentioned as early as in the Musicalisches Lexicon (published in 1732), edited by Johann Gottfried Walter (1684-1748), and has been a source of inspiration not only for Bach himself but also for various composers of later generations Bach himself, as well as various composers of later generations, have been a source of inspiration. The album opens each disc with a brilliant example of Bach's own work, the "Contrapunctus XIV" from "The Technique of Fugue" (completed by Swiss organist Lionel Rogg) and the exquisite "Ricercaré in six voices" from "Musical Offering," and continues with a variety of examples from 19th-century composers who were greatly influenced by Bach, from Mendelssohn to Reger to Kalk-Ehret. The Chandos technical team has also recreated the unique acoustics of St. Paul's Cathedral. Tokyo M-Plus
