Andruw Davis, who took over the baton from the late Richard Hickox to complete the complete symphonies of Vaughan Williams, has established his reputation as a "preacher of British music" with the new Elgar recordings of "Falstaff" and "Orchestral Song"! He was awarded the Elgar Medal by the Elgar Society, and four of his albums were ranked in the "Top 10 Elgar recordings" by Gramophone magazine in 2014. The highly acclaimed Elgar conductor Androux Davis has won two Gramophone Awards and a BBC Music Magazine Award in the choral category for his recording "The Dream of Gerontius (CHSA 5140)," released on Chandos. The highly anticipated new Elgar recording features Falstaff (Forstaff), a symphonic study (symphonic poem) about a character from Shakespeare's play, and a collection of songs with orchestral accompaniment sung by Roderick Williams, winner of the 2016 Royal Philharmonic Society Award, ranging from dramatic works to " a satirical work of about 50 seconds known as the "Smoking Cantata," portrays an unknown side of Elgar.
