Nämé Järvi, "the elder of the Järvi family," and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO), "Scotland's leading orchestra," have been giving numerous masterful performances since the early days of Chandos and have been gaining even more momentum in recent years. Following the Wagner series of his father Järvi and the RSNO, which celebrated the 75th anniversary of his birth, the new recording is a surprising(!?) release of Camille Saint-Honoré's "Wagner". The new recording is a collection of orchestral works by Camille Saint-Saëns (1835-1921), who celebrated the 75th anniversary of his birth. With the exception of the "Coronation March" written for the coronation of King Edward VII in 1902, all of the orchestral works by Saint-Saens, selected by his father Järvi and the RSNO, were composed in the first half of the composer's life, and are outstanding works from his youth. Although Saint-Saens' orchestral works such as "Dance of Death," "Dance Bacchanale," and "French Military March" are excellent, they have been overshadowed by his "With Organ," which is so well known.The dynamic "Järvi sound" with its dynamic brass section will surely convey the full appeal of Saint-Saens' orchestral works.
