Dazzling Italian violinist Francesca Dego has signed an exclusive contract with Chandos! The first Chandos recording is a Paganini tribute album featuring Paganini's favorite historical instrument, the Guarneri 1743 "Il Cannone". Francesca Dego, one of the most popular young violinists on the international scene, has signed an exclusive recording contract with Chandos in the UK! The first Chandos album is also a Paganini album! After Paganini's death, the "Il Cannone" (the cannon) made in 1743 by Guarneri del Gesu, which Paganini himself owned and loved to play, was donated to the city of Genoa, where it has been kept in a safe place as a Genoese treasure. Since then, only a limited number of violinists have had the opportunity to play it, and only a few recordings have been made, but Francesca Dego performed Paganini's Violin Concerto using this instrument at the Paganini Celebration Concert in Genoa in 2019, and because of its success the honor of using it in this recording.The ideal program, which Francesca Dego chose carefully in honor of Paganini, is a substantial Paganini tribute program, both unaccompanied and with piano accompaniment, from Rossini to Schnittke. Italian composer and pianist Carlo Boccadoro (b.1963) composed "Come d'autunno" for Francesca, and Paganini's "Cantabile," for which Boccadoro arranged the piano accompaniment for Francesca, are world premiere recordings. Francesca Dego, whose talent has been praised by her teacher Salvatore Accardo and who in 2008 reached the finals of the Paganini International Competition (the first Italian woman to do so) and won the special prize for the youngest finalist, the "Enrico Costa Prize," is the first to perform Paganini's violin The Paganini album, which brings out the beautiful and dense tone of Paganini's violin, is a must-have topic of conversation!
