Stern Trio with Sell! The best of the concerto is here. First time on record! The Stern Trio is a famous trio consisting of Stern, Rose, and Istomin. The Stern Trio is well known for their solo performances of Beethoven's Triple Concerto in 1964 and Brahms' Double Concerto in 1959 (both recorded by Ormandy/Philadelphia Orchestra, SONY). This album is a different live recording from 1966, with Sell and the Cleveland Orchestra. This is the first time for this recording to appear on the market. Beethoven's Triple Concerto is an ambitious work in which the soloist is pitted against an orchestra in a piano trio setting, and the music is characterized by its generous and powerful flow. It is a work that depends on the ability of the performers to make it sound good. The Stern Trio has Beethoven's complete piano trio in their repertoire, and they have no problem in this respect. The trio's lively and lively battle with Sell is a joy to behold. Brahms' Double Concerto is the last orchestral work from his later years, and while Brahms had adopted the older style of passacaglia in his Symphony No. 4, completed a year earlier, here he has created his own music, inspired by the Baroque concerto.The soloist is required to use advanced heavy technique, and the fiery finale is a masterpiece.
