This disc includes No. 5 and No. 7 from the Beethoven-Liszt Symphony Collection. Frederic Chiu, a pianist born in New York in 1964, made headlines in the media at the 1993 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition when he failed to advance to the final round. Chiu does not unnecessarily waver in tempo, but rather confronts this masterpiece head-on with an imposing approach, as if an orchestra were playing it. Tokyo M-Plus
