The Banschois Consort, a male vocal ensemble founded in 1995 by Androux Kirkman, mainly performs music from the French, English, and Burgundian musical traditions of the 15th century. Following "Music of the Hundred Years' War (CDA 68170)," which sings music of the Hundred Years' War and royal music related to the coronation of Henry VI and the Battle of Ajaccourt, the Banschois Consort's new recording is a collection of religious music for the Virgin Mary. The booklet includes photographs of alabaster statues of Mary in the collections of the British Museum, Nottingham City Museum, Philadelphia Museum, etc., and traces the art of 15th century English Virgin Mary worship expressed through music and stone (art).
