A collection of works from Elgar's era with selections and various arrangements by Sheku The British cellist Sheku Canay, who made a big splash worldwide in May 2018 when she performed at the royal wedding of Prince Henry & Meghan Markle, the royal wedding of the British royal family, and is now 20 years old. This is the second DECCA album by Mason. This album features Elgar's concertos plus works by Elgar's contemporaries. All the pieces were selected by cellist Sheku Canay-Mason. They are all beautiful, and most of them, from Shek's own arrangements for solo cello ("Blow, Wind, South Wind") and cello and guitar ("Scarborough Fair") to a special edition for six cellos of "Nimrod" and Krengel's "Hymn for 12 Cellos," are variously newly arranged for various stringed instruments. Many of Schek's cello colleagues and friends participate in this work, and his brother Brymer plays violin in Bloch's "Prayer". Universal Music/IMS
