The third Deutsche Grammophon/Mozart Opera Ticles concert by the French-Canadian conductors Nézet-Séguin and Villasson, who are well on their way to the "Maestro Course" of the 21st century, is "Abduction from the Hermitage" (the first was "Don Giovanni" and the second "Cosi fan tutte"). (The first was "Don Giovanni" and the second was "Cosi fan tutte.") This is a live recording of a concert performance at the Festival Theater Baden-Baden. The arias are performed by some of the best singers of our time, including Villasson and Damrau. Nézet-Séguin, who also has deep knowledge of opera, is backed by the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, which responds flexibly to his well-thought-out interpretations, and the music is richly infused with the essence of Mozart.
