The second volume of A. Schiff's complete Beethoven piano sonatas, this time Op. 10 and "Pathétique"! The first album was a bit of a handicap (?), as it was a two-disc set, and the music was a bit difficult to listen to, but it was a great success. The first volume of the Beethoven cycle, despite its austere music and double-disc format, has received rave reviews from around the world and is already becoming a long-selling item. The second volume is also a recording made in Zurich on two different pianos (no data on which piano is used for which piece). This time, expectations are even higher, as it is a masterpiece Beethoven completed before his 30th birthday, including the popular "Pathétique". The Beethoven Cycle boom is in full swing in the midst of the Mozart year, coinciding at times with Philips' Uchida and at other times with Decca's Kun-Woo Paik, the "Universal Three Crows" (?), who have been working together for more than a decade to create a new Beethoven cycle. The completion of the complete works of each of them is a project that one cannot take one's eyes off of.
