Kurt Rosenwinkel also participates! German tenor saxophonist, Tobias Meinert Tobias Meinert, born in Regensburg, Germany in 1983, is a tenor saxophonist and composer. This is his third album on the SUNNYSIDE label. He is currently active in the NY jazz scene, performing at Smalls, 55Bar, Birdland, and others. In addition to Kurt Rosenwinkel, this release brings together the same members as on "Berlin People" (Sunnyside SSC 1541): pianist Ludwig Hornung, bassist Tom Berkman, and drummer Matthias Rupnich. The live performance was recorded at A-Trane in Berlin, a place associated with where Tobias Meinert first heard Kurt Rosenwinkel. The venue is one of the few clubs in the world that offers musicians a full week of performances. The film was taken from separate tours in 2021 and 2022, with most of the takes taken on the last day.
