Leo Genoves, a highly acclaimed jazz pianist and session member of Esperanza Spalding, along with bassist Demian Cavallo and drummer Marcos Cavaleiro, presents a trio of works that express the delicate world of jazz. /Leo Genoves was born in Benado Tuerto, Argentina in 1979 and began playing the piano at the age of five. Since 2005, he has been recording and touring internationally regularly with bassist and vocalist Esperanza Spalding. He won a Grammy Award for Best Improvised Jazz Solo for his solo on "Endangered Species" on Wayne Shorter's album "Live at the Detroit Jazz Festival".Genoves met fellow bassist Demian Cavallo at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, and then in Portugal met drummer Marcos Cavaleiro, a perfect match for Genoves and Cavallo's musical chemistry. The album kicks off with the dense, free-spirited "Qom" by Cavó, inspired by the language of the Com, an indigenous tribe in northeastern Argentina. The song "Stone Believer" (n.2) was written after Genoves received a blessing stone from a fan; the song is about the power of connection and belief shared around the world. The trance-like performance of Genoves, as well as the unconventional sound of each of Demaine Cabo and Marcos Cavaliero, are indicative of the quality of this album.
