The violin plays the leading role in four of them, with the virtuoso Kantorov playing solo. The "Russian Concerto" is the last of Lalo's four violin concertos, and is an exotic work that uses Russian folk songs collected by Rimsky=Korsakov. Lalo's brilliant violin technique is also a highlight of the concerto. In "Guitar," Gabriel Pierné orchestrates the accompaniment to a work for violin and piano.
